The City of Montreal’s annual visual arts exhibition Regarde! on Ontario Street East invites you to discover 41 works installed in various locations.
The visual arts route unfolds along Ontario Street East, between Saint-Hubert and Lespérance streets, on structures along the sidewalks, in shop windows, on walls, and on the screens at Place de la création.
In La grande friche, Véronique Malo photographs a plant, the goldenrod. Emerging from an abandoned lot—capturing either spontaneous nature or a frozen urban landscape—the image evokes a fragile beauty enhanced by its golden hues. The work celebrates the resilience of living things while questioning our desire for environmental control. By suggesting that a future might arise from our non-intervention in natural spaces, Malo offers a poetic reflection on fallow land as a site of resistance and renewal.
